Charles de Lint is one of my favorite authors, though this is not my favorite representation of his work Here he seamlessly blends the mythic, urban and horror in the form of a ghost boy The message behind the story is mythic and humbling the search for happiness, the lengths some will go to obtain it, and the ramifications in the aftermath In the end, I think the Crow Girls have the answer.

The Crow Girls are some of my favourite Newford characters, so I was delighted to read this short story De Lint delves into their curious, hopeful, playful personalities when he brings them into the path of a ghost boy trapped on Earth by the apparent lack of love of his mother the Crow Girls are pretty cherryful characters, but even they must be reminded once and a while that happiness is not something to be taken for granted It is far easier to spread sorrow, but thankfully the Crow Girls can [...]
